Butterball Bed & Breakfast

Hi All,

On 24th May, I was wondering in Mamallapuram, under the hot afternoon sun. I was not sure what topic to pick for my individual project. Just then I stumbled upon this board saying "Bed and Breakfast". Gosh!! How could I miss that!!!
I'd seen the concept of B&B only in UK before this. The concept of B&B is not like Hotels or Motels. It is to provide an overnight stay and then morning breakfast. It does not serve any other meal. The comfort in B&B is far more than in a hotel. It is like a home in an unknown place.
Butterball B&B is located at a very strategic position in the town. It's location in front of the archaeological site gives an added advantage to customers who come to see the nature's masterpiece in the archaeological area.
As I entered I was welcomed by Sohail, the caretaker of that place. After some chat he escorted me to the lawn on the backside. There were a bunch of arm chairs, a television, a music player and few magazines. The place was perfectly set up for spending a relaxed time. He enlightened me about the owners of the place and then provided information about similar B&B in different places in Chennai. He provided information about the way their B&B functions. They have a 24 hrs check-in and check-out policy here. Single room is available in Rs. 1600/- and double bed room for Rs. 1800/-
In order to attract foreign tourists they have created a scheme for a complete private occupancy in case more than 10 people are checking in. They would have to forego the price of empty rooms but will instead have an advantage of keeping other rooms occupied for few days. This allows the foreign tourists to have the complete B&B at their disposal. They have a kitchen where the guests can cook if they wish to with a menial extra charge. The place provides pure veg meal; however, can provide non-veg food from the associated restaurant "Moonrakers". The guests can party in the lawn or terrace free of charge. Such facility is tempting and is a great selling proposition to be sold to a large group of people. In short this place has simplicity and perfect ambience. Few improvements required for the promotion of the B&B is advertisements which is not so prominent in the area.

Thanks
