My next visit to "FAVOURITE JUICE LAND" was on the 2nd June..... I had a few more questions to ask Mr Sadiq.
My first question was to know where the fruits are purchased from.....I was also interested in the profits made and future plans of the store.....
The below are my findings from this visit
Fruits are bought at Koyambedu, a fruit and vegetable hub at Chennai city. Most of the fruits are bought at 35 to 40 INR per kilogram, depending on the season.
To maintain the hygiene, these fruits are bought daily. Most of the times, all the fruits bought are used, rarely if there is any surplus left, the fruits are disposed off. The owner says, he does not want to take the risk of not using fresh fruits as “fresh fruit juice” is the USP of his shop. He also adds that there are hardly any left over, except in rare scenarios.
Fruits bought at INR 35 to 40 per kilogram, approximately 40 kilograms bought daily
Average daily revenue: INR 3000
Rent of the shop: INR 6800
Salaries of Staff: INR 9000
Other raw material (such as water, milk and sugar etc) expenses: INR 14000
Profit made: 25% approximately
Sweet Lime and Orange priced at INR 20 per juice
Mango milk shake (a seasonal favourite) priced at INR 25
Mr Sadiq hopes to continue this shop at Mahabalipuram and expand the one at Chennai later.
His shop at Chennai is well placed at the “IT Hub – OMR”. Therefore, he wants to earn the good-will of software engineers around the place. This will help him increase his work-force and eventually propel his business. He aims to enhance his business to a level wherein he can compete with the existing similar businesses in OMR.
He also wants to invest the profits made from the OMR branch in the Mahabalipuram branch to make it bigger and renovate the ambience to attract more and more customers.
