Did you ever imagine multiplexes coming up with amenities
such as Spa, Library, Gaming Room, Fine Dining, Retail Store and so on? Well I
certainly didn’t but Sathyam Cinemas has. ‘Escape’ by Sathyam Cinemas is truly
the city’s in fact India’s first luxury multiplex. I happened to visit Escape
at Express Avenue Mall, Chennai around two weeks ago and was simply amazed by
the ways Sathyam Cinemas has changed the meaning of viewing Cinema. With plethora of first-class amenities,
Escape gives its visitors a chance to escape from their mundane routine to a
world where entertainment joins hands with aesthetics and comfort. It’s a
luxury multiplex not just for higher class but for masses. Be it a family with
mischievous kids, a group of gorgeous girls, foodies, habitual readers, coffee
lovers or corporate, Escape has something to offer to everyone. Let me take you
to a tour of Escape right here!

TOUCH Kiosks |
Once
you reach the Escape premises, the guard will open the gate for you with a
welcoming smile and gesture. Please note that at this point, unlike in PVRs,
you are not required to purchase a movie ticket first to enter the multiplex.
Instead you can just explore the peripheral services available and choose to
book a movie ticket for later. Who should take efforts to book a movie ticket
is no more a topic of fight between couples! As soon as you enter Escape you
will find plenty of ‘TOUCH’ Kiosks where checking movie schedules and booking
tickets is just a click away.
|
CRAVE Food Counters |
Otherwise, enter the left hand side of the lobby
where you can see ‘CRAVE’ food counters, here you can buy your movie tickets
& the movie time hunger pangs at the same time! The food counters at Escape
are again not the ordinary ones which sell just popcorn and cold-drinks. You
can take your pick from finger foods, burger, pizzas and lot more. You can also
try ‘Specialty Corners’ for items like Mix Chaat, Sandwiches, Milkshakes and Ice-creams!!
The setting to sell movie tickets from the food counters clearly indicates increased
sales of the food.
As you move forward you will come across the ‘CLICK’ browsing
center where free 15-20 minutes internet browsing is complimentary for the
movie goers. Here again none other than Apple workstations have been provided
which adds to the luxury experience of a customer. If you have kids along with
you let them explore the Play station and XBOX 360 at the Gaming Room 'PLAY'. This is surely going to make their day! At the
end of the lobby comes the fine dining café ‘DINE’ where you can enjoy a sip of
coffee or full meals with family or friends before or after the film.

FLIP the Library |
When you come towards the right side of the lobby you will yet
find ample of other amenities. To start with, the habitual readers can flip the
pages of their favorite novel or magazine at the ‘FLIP’ Library. This section
is again complimentary for the ticket buyers. You also get the novelty to order
a cup of coffee or food of your choice as you enjoy your reading! If you happen
to get headache after watching movies like ‘Ra-one’, Escape has a solution for
that also. Just visit the Spa ‘BLISS’, energize your muscles and rejuvenate
yourself. Escape's most exciting section is yet to open which is their Retail
Space ‘STUFF’. Shoppers will have a chance to select products from a range of
luxury items.

FLUSH Washrooms |
Last but not the least, even the washrooms at Escape is truly international. Digital toilets…woo this is something new!! Specially crafted
tiled mirror, comfort sofas and shower rooms will surely charm you.
After taking a stroll around the Escape, I had many
questions in my mind such as…is the Escape multiplex a profitable entity after
making huge investments in the infrastructure? After all the ticket rates at the
multiplex is as low as Rs 120. There were still unexplored sections such as the
beautifully designed ‘SCREENS’ and the magical ‘LIVE’ &‘WISH’ counters. To get
answers to my questions I approached the floor Manager Mr. Mohd. Kasim Shakir.
He again took me around the Escape peripheral services and provided me with
some valuable insights which I shall be sharing soon in my next blog!
